International day of Charity

On the occasion of the International Day of Charity, September 5, 2014, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania cordially invited us to the unveiling of a statue of Mother Theresa, and to the Charity concert organized to honor the memory of the Blessed Mother Teresa.

Mother Teresa statue unveiled

The Albanian Embassy and Hungarian dignitaries have unveiled a statue of Mother Teresa in Budapest to mark the Day of International Charity. “Mother Teresa lived an exemplary life, she faced up to the horror of poverty and hopelessness and was dedicated to serving the needy,” Zoltán Pokorni, the mayor of District XII, where the statue was erected, told the ceremony. The mayor said millions have learned about Mother Teresa’s work around the world and her Missionaries of Charity have been helped by a great number of volunteers in some 150 countries, including Hungary. Anikó Lévai, the wife of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, said Mother Teresa’s ideal of love serves as a model for us all. Mira Hoxha, the Albanian Ambassador, noted that the UN General Assembly in 2012 designated 5 September, the anniversary of Mother Teresa’s death, as International Day of Charity at Hungary’s initiative.
